Update - 30 seconds videos

I have decided to create another 30 second video to allow freedom of choice for the audience on the website. This will be another answered question from Harry that my target audience group have asked.

This will be produced after I have chosen what audio is best for the documentary, as this is an extra video that is not necessarily needed.

I will use the same introductory music as "what are your aims for this year?" but use different visuals to the previous 30 seconds.

Changes to website

I have started to make a few more changes that adhere to the format of BBC3. I have begun to compose and introduction for the documentary and the aim of it which is to encourage the up take of sport for teenagers and young adults (the call to action). This also will fulfil the remit of BBC which is to "educate, inform and entertain" audiences, by providing information and education about a sport that is not so well represented, and so allow entertainment of a thrilling sport.

I have re-uploaded a small gallery which will be placed near the bottom of the home page. It features some more shots taken from my Canon camera during shooting opportunities. These images will most likely be changed according to what I use on the main pages.

Latest update for 3 minute opening

Today I have been working on the latter of my 3 minute documentary, I have added in one of my interviews with Holly, a fellow competitor and friend of the talent. This follows a Voiceover of Harry telling the audience of how friendly the sport is despite stiff competition.

Following this I have added in a backing track named Stomp Rock which has strong and bouncy charisma to suit the movement of a competition that the end of the documentary will feature with. This show coverage will feature a small clip of travelling, then an interview with the talent about the show centre. I have many clips to add on afterwards of the talent warming up and preparing to compete, and the Stomp Rock soundtrack continues throughout.

Website update

I have started focusing on my website again after finishing my 30 seconds video, and have begun to finalise some parts and add in links to each webpage.

I really like the use of colour palette that converges with BBC3's own, and so I have been able to incorporate their branding as a BBC3 production.

Upon entry to the website I now have a popup that advertises signing up for updates, as well as offering the opportunity to win a tour of Harry's competition yard.

On the main page I have a welcome from the talent to his documentary and web page and mentioning the call to action and businesses involved in the production of the documentary.

Final video

What are your aims for this year?

I have added in the BBC3 logo to my video, as well as another small cup whilst the talent is speaking.

The horse of the year show logo also features whilst Harry mentions it as a competition aim for this year.

30 seconds update

What are your aims for this year?

I have added another cutaway for my video, as well as including the horse of the year show logo, which Harry mentions in his aims for shows to qualify for.

30 seconds

What are your aims for this year?

The audience have been given the opportunity to ask questions for the talent to answer.

This is only the first one but I have a few more to add on also.

Update - latest interviews

I have conducted my last interview with Jonathon English - a team selector for British Showjumping teams, as well as Holly Grimwade, a fellow rider.

This enables more perspectives of my talent for the audience

I was able to place portraits of them on the website also.

Adhering to the BBC3 website

I have made changes to my website in order to keep inline with the BBC3 one and create a sense of branding. I have changed the menu and started to adapt the colour scheme of the website too.

Post reshoot draft

I am yet to place titles on the documentary but I have focused on suiting the audio to visual within the video.

My plan to go forward:

1- I will be adding the video of the talent introducing himself

"My name is Harry Bateman, I am 24 years old and I want to show everyone what it takes to be a showjumper"

This shot has enough space for the title "What It Takes" and so I will use this to introduce the name of the show.

2- I shall add in a clip of Harry's groom/helper for the yard. I have footage also of him helping her with her own pony, so allowing another point of view for the audience, and as an observatory audience,  they can infer what else the talent does in spare time apart from riding.

3- I have some footage of a horse show, and also a suited audio to match this so this will take place nearer the end of the documentary.

Last shooting day - 30/10/2020

Today we shot our last footage to complete the documentary and the 30 seconds website video. The shoot went very well, and I was also able to photograph some of the training that I also videoed, at the same time.

Website editing

I have a few more things I would like to edit to complete my website for the documentary:

- Anchor the idea that this is for BBC3.

- Add the documentary and edit that page once completed.

- Complete and upload my 30 second clip to the website.

New website

 https://14-jgem.wixsite.com/mysite
I was unhappy with my initial website, and so made the choice to start over. I am much happier with my designs, and have a few more things to add such as the details for get involved, and to update the documentary page once I have completed it. I will also need to edit and sort the additional 30 seconds and then this will be added also. The blog posts were an added extra I thought would encourage audience engagement for them to be updated with events and results.

I focused on my website for now as Harry has been away competing for the past week, but he has now returned so I can record my voiceovers as planned with him to continue my editing of the documentary.

I also need to anchor that this is a BBC3 production

More images for website

On Sunday 6th September, I had the opportunity to take some more images and footage for my website, as well as the documentary. The venue was Hickstead near Brighton and this provided great miseducating en scene of the grass international arena, compared to the sand arena of Pyecombe that I shot footage from two weeks ago.

This leaves a few more aspects I wish to shoot for my documentary-

One more voiceover from the talent, Harry Bateman

A video of the talent in a mid shot leaning over a fence with a horse beside him. This is so I can place the title of the documentary.

Website update

Following taking my images from the horse show on Friday, it has enabled me to begin inputting images to see what works best. Then I have also been able to create blog posts, another way for the target audience to interact with my documentary by visiting online.

These images are only here temporarily, but set a great standard of pixels and so are best suited for this website, which I am really happy with.

I have also added an events calendar, which I think I shall use for documentary dates and times of showings on BBC3.

Shooting footage - website images 30/08/2020

Following purchasing a canon EOS 4000D, I was able to go with my talent to a horse show to capture some good shots for my website.

I was able to take many different shots, and I found it further developed my own skills for media to have to make quick decisions in order to take the very best image.  I have hundreds to choose from which will give a great range for the website.
